July 17, 2008

Are you a new mom? Do you want to know how to lose the baby weight? But I know you would rather spend your time with your newborn rather than thinking of getting back in shape and go to the gym. Or you’re baby takes up much of your time and you are already tired to start a new fitness regimen right now. I’ve been there, 3 times, so I know what you are probably going through.

After I had my third child, I knew it would be a real challenge for me to get back in shape. But after some good advices and tips from a dietician friend of mine, I was able to fit on my old jeans and still eat nutritiously and wisely for my baby’s health.

Natural Ways You Can Lose Weight After Being Pregnant

1. Control Your Food Cravings. There are several reasons why women who just gave birth get constant food cravings. One of them is their hormones are still on an up-and-down surge. You have to try to keep your sugar levels in control by eating frequent small meals instead of just 2 to 3 big meals in a day. You need a balanced diet consisting of fats, protein and complex carbohydrates.

2. Get Fit By Breastfeeding Your Baby. Have you ever head that when you breastfeed your baby you actually lose at least 500 pounds per day? When you were pregnant, you got fat because of your body mechanism to save up food for you and your baby. The fat that you saved was for the purpose of producing milk so use it up and you will surely lose that fat that you have saved up.

3. Take a walk and show off your baby. Show off your baby in the neighborhood or park and while you’re doing that you are doing yourself good too by being a proud parent and losing the baby weight at the same time. One of the best ways to get rid of the baby weight and the stress that comes with being a new mom is performing light exercises and the best way to do this is taking a walk everyday.

Wanting to get back in shape is a good thing but remember not to rush your body. You have to take extra care of yourself because your baby depends on you now. Learn to appreciate the joys of motherhood and just give shaping up some time. Avoid adding stress to yourself, enjoy and congratulate yourself for a job well done.

If you want to be able to wear your sexy jeans again, I’m sure that would be really cool but your first priority is to keep you and your baby healthy so avoid any synthetic weight loss pills and don’t rush it. You would eventually get back to tip top shape by just following a well balanced meal everyday.
